Good day and welcome to
PSYC 540 – PERSONALITY
I am Kimberly Nelms Smarr,
PsyD. My Psychology Doctorate is in the
concentration of Organizational Leadership.
I have been in the field and ministry for over 20 years. I have been a "PK" (Pastor's Kid),
Co-Pastor, Worship Leader, Youth Leader, Musician, and Executive Administrator
in Ministry,
In addition, I volunteer in the prison system in order
to encourage those who are incarcerated that behavior can be modified with the
help of changing our minds and living for Christ. I also spend time at the domestic violence shelter where I am able to motivate women who are
survivors of all forms of abuse.
I am married
to a pastor and phenomenal
church musician who has attained his D.Min. in Leadership. We have 4
sons: one in Finance, one in Musical Theatre, one attaining his
degree in Kinesiology, and one in health care.
I cannot forget Princess,
our cat, and the only girl in our family.
I am excited to be in this course
not only as your instructor but as a fellow-learner. I believe as I have pertinent knowledge to
share with you, you are also knowledgeable and have experiences to share. Those experiences which are relative to Psychology of Personality are what will assist
in the expansion of learning in this classroom.
You are in store for a
great journey as we understand:
· personality and social
development
· social learning
· differences in
personality development
·
predicting and changing attitudes, behavior, and performance

Most importantly, I want you to know
When Life happens…. Send me an email. Each of us experience the good, the bad,
the up’s, the down’s and all the in-between’s of life on a daily basis. There will be the day when you encounter a big or even
small event that could possibly throw you off course. It may not be
during the semester of this class, but realize… life happens, at seemingly
the worst times, and arriving when we least expect it. I have been in
education and instruction long enough to have seen many difficult things happen
to my students (death of a loved one, divorce, extreme illness, homelessness,
and even exciting events as marriages, graduations, and the birth of a new
child). Instead of reaching out during the tough times, they remain silent
and consider quitting college.
When life happens… just send me an
email. I am here to help you in any way
possible, so let me know if you need me. Your success in our classroom
is very important to me. So, if during this semester you experience any
“Life Happens” events, do not suffer through them alone… please send me an
email: ksmarr@lapu.edu.
I can hardly wait to begin this
journey with you!
"...For I know the plans I have for you" declares the
Lord, "They are plans for good...to give you a future and a hope."
(Jeremiah 29:11, NLT).
Success and Blessings,
Dr.
